Private versus public. Private international hospitals in Shanghai and Beijing typically quote in English, accept international insurance and provide case managers — at a higher price. Public Grade 3-A hospitals bill at official state price schedules and have the highest procedure volumes, but you will need translation and coordination support.

Questions to ask any hospital before you commit

Have you treated international patients with my exact diagnosis and biomarker? How many?
Is the product or drug approved for my indication in China, or only available through a trial or special-access programme?
What is the full itemised cost — cells, hospitalisation, ICU, management of CRS/ICANS, drugs, and what is not included?
Will you issue the invitation letter and documentation needed for a medical (S2) visa?
Who is responsible if I need intensive care, and what are your published toxicity management results?
Will I receive English-language discharge summaries and imaging for my oncologist at home?
Can I speak with a previous international patient?
